Rory Miller had one chance to fight back and she took it. Rory survived and the serial killer who attacked her escaped. Now that the infamous Steven Nell is on the loose, Rory must enter the witness protection program. Entering the program alongside her, is her father and sister Darcy. The trio starts a new life and a new beginning leaving their friends and family behind without a goodbye.

Starting over in a new town with only each other is unimaginable for Rory and Darcy. They were inseparable as children but now they can barely stand each other. As the sisters settle in to Juniper Landing, a picturesque vacation island, it seems like their new home may be just the fresh start they need. They fall in with a group of beautiful, carefree teens and spend their days surfing, partying on the beach, and hiking into endless sunsets. Just as they’re starting to feel safe again, one of their new friends goes missing. Is it a coincidence? Or is the nightmare beginning all over again?

Review:

I am now a Kate Brian fan!!! This book was so creepy and good that you will want to pick this book up right away! The cover caught my attention immediately before it came out and the summary just made me want this book even more. I have read other books under her other name Kieran Scott which I adored. Shadowlands has action, crime and suspense! I was just blown away at how well written it was.

Right from the beginning I was so creeped out from the first chapter. The point of view was from the stalker/Steven Nell who is just a creepy, creepy man. I was even scared to read some of it, made your skin crawl. The thrilling scenes that Kate Brian uses just makes you want to read more of what is going to happen after chasing this girl. There is two point of views but Steven has just a few scenes from his perspective. He is a killer after his prey and will not stop to finish what he started.

So much goes on through the story that makes you think and all the characters that are being introduced makes you question if they are hiding things as well. Rory's relationship with her sister was between fighting and not getting along. The were so many twists that it made me enjoy the book more. Kate Brian's writing was amazing and full of intrigue. This book will make you crave for the next book immediately. Add this book to your TBR lists!!
