Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

Review:

Funny, Romantic and by far my favorite of Cora Carmacks books! This book was amazing, Cade has definitely been added to my book boyfriend list!! Told in dual point of views of Max and Cade we go through the first time they meet to the point of a relationship. Max has such passion in music but she is also is afraid to be herself when her parents come to town for Thanksgiving. With reappearances with Bliss and Garrick we also got to see what was happening with them after Cade did pour his heart out to Bliss, but in the end he got his heart broken, but he meets a more complex character in Max.

In Faking It, I thought Cora did a fantastic job with the transition from Bliss and Garrick to our new favorite couple Cade and Max. With the closure from Bliss, Cade is able to slowly move on, where he also realizes he needs to date more and figure out what he wants to do. At the same time in a coffee shop, where we meet Max who is with her boyfriend Mace. After a phone call that her parents are surprising her, she goes up to Cade and offers him this proposition of being her pretend boyfriend so her parents don't think that her dream of a musician is not what they want. Of course Cade agrees.

I loved Cade throughout this entire book. He is so compassionate and when you read about him you know why all the girls fall in love with him (readers). Cade's voice was interesting as he is patient, perfect, respectful, and Max even calls him Golden Boy because of how well he pleased her parents. Cade does have his flaws but even his flaws are perfect. I loved Max, she is so independent and fearless that she is funny in some scenes. Her nickname is Angry Girl which makes lots of sense after all she has been through. Cade helps her go through a traumatic experience and you can really connect with her character and why she lashes out at her parents. Her chemistry with Cade is HOT and you can feel the tension when they are together.

The writing was amazing and I found myself reading this book really quickly which made me love these characters Cora has created. The time period was over a month which is a great way to start a relationship but as you read Faking It, Cora can really convince you that love can help you as well as letting people in. Cade helps Max overcome her fears which helps her release why she has short relationships. Overall this book was amazing and I cannot wait to read Cora's next book!!

5/5
